Why Study Abroad?

Studying Abroad is a necessity, not a luxury.

Employers want students who are able to think outside the box to address economic issues.  Study abroad enhances your ability to apply theories learned in the classroom to real world scenarios. Even in challenging economic times, studying abroad is now part of a college students' education and is a vital investment. If we want a new generation of leaders and innovators who can be effective in an ever more globalized world, sending students overseas is not a luxury. It's a necessity.

Where to Study Abroad?

Texas A&M University provides many study abroad programs for all of their students, but the Department of Economics provides for specific trips that are specifically catered to Economics majors, or rather anyone interested in Economics.

The four locations we send have a relationship with are as follows:

  • American University in Bulgaria (Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria)

  • Erasmus University (Rotterdam, The Netherlands)

  • Tillburg University (Tillburg, The Netherlands)

  • Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (Chengdu, China)

As you can see from the maps to the right, all of these locations are quite attractive. From the beautiful mediterranean feel of Bulgaria, to the majestic mountains that surround Chengdu, you will find a place where even you can feel at home.

All of these programs are quite affordable, with prices more or less equivalent to spending a semester at College Station. If you are interested, feel free to look through our pages about why visiting any of these places is so benefical.
